Robert Pack’s journey from the streets of New Orleans to the heights of the NBA and international coaching has always been rooted in a greater purpose—giving back to the community that raised him. A native of New Orleans’ Fischer Projects and the Lower 9th Ward, Robert was shaped by early experiences in neighborhood playgrounds and schools where his passion for sports and leadership began to flourish.
After a standout high school career at Alfred Lawless High School and earning his sociology degree from the University of Southern California (USC), Robert defied the odds by going undrafted and still carving out an impressive 13-year NBA career.
Known for his electrifying athleticism and fierce competitive spirit, he played for multiple NBA teams, including the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Bullets, and New Orleans Hornets. He was also a key figure on the historic 1994 Denver Nuggets team—the first No. 8 seed to ever defeat a No. 1 seed in the NBA playoffs.
Following his playing career, Robert seamlessly transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant for several NBA franchises and later becoming a head coach in the Basketball Africa League. His global coaching journey continues to inspire the next generation of athletes around the world.
In 1997, Robert founded The Robert Pack Foundation, a nonprofit committed to empowering underserved youth through mentorship, education, and cultural exposure. Whether it’s flying a group of first-time travelers to Washington, D.C. for a life-changing experience or creating pathways through structured programming, Robert remains dedicated to helping young people unlock their full potential.
In 2016, he co-founded Team H.O.P.E. NOLA (Helping Our Players Excel), alongside music mogul Percy “Master P” Miller, providing mentorship, life skills training, and scholarship opportunities for at-risk youth in New Orleans.
Robert Pack’s life is a powerful reminder that talent, paired with purpose and perseverance, can create a lasting legacy. Through The Robert Pack Organization, he continues to invest in the futures of New Orleans youth—empowering them to rise, lead, and thrive.
